Honoring Our Legacy

A Tradition of Excellence

The Great Falls High School Legacy Alumni Association serves to preserve the rich history and honor those alumni whose lives reflect the highest values of our institution. We celebrate achievements that bridge the past with the promise of our future.

The history of Great Falls High School’s colors, mascots, songs, and logos reflect more than a century of tradition and evolution. According to articles published in the Great Falls Tribune and the Great Falls Leader, Yale Blue and White were officially selected as the school colors in 1900. Nearly fifty years later, newspaper accounts identified the school colors as Columbia Blue—also known as Electric Blue—and White. The school’s iconic Bison mascot was unofficially adopted in 1929, as documented by the Great Falls Tribune. Together, these changes illustrate the development of Great Falls High School’s identity since its founding in 1890.
